We investigated the dynamics of bacterial communities in high altitud lakes of the Pyrenees during 2007 and 2008. We sampled the water column and the shallow layer of the lakes to collect bacterial plankton and neuston, respectively. Community composition was determined by 454 sequencing of the 16S rRNA gene.
