The neuroinflammatory response is a key driver of both short- and long-term neurodegenerative processes, including amyloid beta accumulation and neuronal loss. This inflammation extends beyond the brain and is influenced by the gut microbiota. Fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) has emerged as a potential therapy to reduce this inflammatory response. In this study, 6-month-old 5XFAD transgenic AD mice and wild-type (WT) mice were treated with either vehicle (VH) or FMT from 2-month-old WT mice, starting one day post-injury (1 dpi) after controlled cortical impact (CCI) injury.
