Garnets preview

The purpose of scanning these particular samples was to show the power of micro-CT technique in tackling complex inclusion trails in garnet porphyroblasts. There are nice spiral patterns inside the garnets. The idea was to demonstrate that by using 3D imaging method, micro-fold axis orientation can readily be measured even within porphyroblasts. These micro-fold axes orientations would help in reconstructing deformed rocks at the regional scale. Samples are from University of Granada, Spain.
