Hsd17b4 is a bifunctional enzyme acting on the peroxisomal beta-oxidation pathway for fatty acids, but it is not yet known whether it has functions beyond its role as a metabolic enzyme. Here, we show that knockdown of Hsd17b4 downregulates spliceosome pathway in murine primary keratinocytes, especially the expression of splicing factor SRSF family. Our findings indicate the non-canonical role of Hsd17b4 as a regulator of spliceosome.
