NARRATIVES OF GRIEF AND PSYCHOLOGICAL DISINTEGRATION IN EDGAR ALLAN POE'S "THE RAVEN"

This article examines the complex relationship between persistent grief and the breakdown of the human mind in Edgar Allan Poe’s famous poem, “The Raven”. The focus stays on how the main character moves from a state of sad remembering to a total psychological collapse. By looking at the interaction between the mourning lover and the mysterious bird, the research highlights the process of losing touch with reality when sorrow becomes permanent. The analysis uses a combination of literary description and psychological observation to explore the text. Specific attention is given to the repetitive nature of the word “Nevermore” and how this repetition functions as a tool for self-torture. The study also looks at the setting and the dark atmosphere to understand how external surroundings reflect the internal chaos of the character.
