Assesing the genomic plasticity of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus in carriers over time using long-read sequencing

This study used long-read sequencing to explore how MRSA bacteria adapt over time in long-term carriers. By analyzing 85 samples from 18 patients, researchers found ongoing genetic changes and signs of adaptation, especially in genes linked to virulence. The findings provide new insights into how MRSA evolves within the human body, which may help improve strategies to control its spread.
