Mitochondrial Genome Sequencing of Salt Marsh Harvest Mouse

Whole mitochondrial genomes of salt marsh harvest mouse (Reithrodontomys raviventris) were sequenced to investigate the evolutionary history of the species. Divergence time of subspecies and populations coincided with isolation due to sea level rise since the last glacial maximum. Demographic history suggested population increases as sea level rose and a stark decline in the recent past consistent with large scale habitat loss from urbanization.
