Dietary licorice modulates mice intestinal flora

The primary goal of this study is to test the potentials of common Chinese dietary herbs in reducing blood Cd in mice in a short term. Surprisingly, licorice water extract showed a significantly positive effect, whose composition of natural products was determined and Cd alleviation effects were further examined in terms of Cd concentrations in more tissues, histopathology, liver functions, and impacts on gut microbial diversity and metabolism.
