The main objective of the study is the description of the trophic niche of several steppe bird species in Spain using DNA metabarcoding. For this purpose, we sequenced the 18S gene from bird fecal material. This study is the first to use fecal DNA metabarcoding to investigate the diet of a group of steppe passerines.
