Portrait of Archduke Joseph

The Habsurg governor of Hungary, Palatine Joseph (1776-1847), who too a close personal interest in national Hungarian art, played a key role in making improvements to the nation's cultural institutions. His support led, among other things, to the establishment and expansion of the Hungarian National Museum and the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and the founding of the Pest Art Society. Through his management of the Pest Beautification Committee, the city also experienced a boom in fine architecture匈牙利哈布斯堡王朝总督约瑟夫·帕拉蒂尼（Palatine Joseph，1776-1847）对匈牙利民族艺术抱有深切的个人热忱，在推动匈牙利文化机构革新完善方面发挥了关键作用。在其支持下，匈牙利国家博物馆（Hungarian National Museum）与匈牙利科学院（Hungarian Academy of Sciences）得以创立并扩建，佩斯艺术协会（Pest Art Society）也正式成立；经由他对佩斯美化委员会（Pest Beautification Committee）的统筹管理，这座城市的精美建筑也迎来了发展热潮。
