资源简介:
Virtually all plants are associated with microbial symbionts (mostly bacteria and fungi) that live either on the plant surface (ectophytes) or inside its tissues or cells (endophytes), and colonize either the plant's root system (rhizosphere) or aerial parts. Microbial symbionts are typically benefitting from host-produced compounds, while their effect on the plant ranges from mutualistic to pathogenic. Our project aims at the investigation of the particular microbiome associated with the ericaceous plant Vaccinium macrocarpon (cranberry), with a research focus on endophytes that are able to control plant pathogens and stimulate plant growth. The taxa we study include fungi traditionally classified as Ericoid Mycorrhizal Fungi (ErMF) and Dark-Septate Endophytic fungi (DSE), as well as bacteria such as Bacillus velezensis strains. This research has the potential to supersede the use of pesticides and mineral fertilizers in cranberry farming and thus to promote sustainable agriculture.
