Field training: estimating insects abundance using net-sweeping technique

- # of individual insects is discrete variable referring to the number of insects observed in the net after each trial. - # of RTUs is a discrete variable referring to the number of species of insects caught in the net after each trial. The dataset was collected on Monday, September 26th at the Saywell grassland, York University. The study was conducted by a group of researchers, Feras, Jaz, Meg and William and took place between 3:45 - 5:00 pm on a rainy, cloudy afternoon with temperature of 17C.Data was collected using two tools, sweep nets and transects. In grasslands, one was to determine a distance by transects, and walk along it sweeping the net for a specified length of time, 30 seconds in this case. Both the number of insects and number of RTUs captured were recorded. This procedure was repeated 10 times (trials).Hypothesis/Prediction: How wet the grassland is affected the abundance of insects. Wetter grasslands means less insects will be captured in each trial.
