VPRS 12164 Register of Loans to Cemeteries

The Cemeteries Act 1890 and subsequent amendments established the Cemetery Fund, which appropriated revenue from the sale of Victorian Government Stock.The Act allowed municipalities via cemetery trusts, to borrow money from the Fund for public works and maintenance for cemeteries within Victoria. Municipalities were required to repay the debt and additional interest with periodical repayments over an agreed time period.This series consists of a register of loans established under the Act and its subsequent amendments.
