We investigated the effect of defaunation on the structure and function of two frugivore interaction networks in the tropical dry forest of northern Colombia. We combined data from field observations of fruit consumption with species extinction simulation models. For these models, we used three different scenarios in the order of species removal: random extinction and from larger to smaller body size in both the structural and functional components. The third scenario was used as a baseline for comparison and corresponds to the worst-case scenario according to the component, i.e., from highest to lowest contribution to network structure (CNS) in the structural component and from highest to lowest contribution to seed dispersal potential (SDP) in the functional component.
The data show the results of calculating the structure (nestedness and modularity) and function (richness and functional evenness) metrics in each of the extinction steps per scenario.
本研究探究了动物区系丧失(defaunation)对哥伦比亚北部热带旱生林中两种食果动物互作网络的结构与功能的影响。本研究将野外果实取食观测数据与物种灭绝模拟模型相结合。针对上述模型,我们设置了三种基于物种移除顺序的不同情景:其一为随机灭绝,其二为按体型从大到小的顺序灭绝,上述两种情景均覆盖网络的结构与功能组分;第三种情景作为对照基准,同时对应各组分下的最差情景——即结构组分中按对网络结构(CNS)的贡献从高到低排序移除物种,功能组分中按对种子传播潜力(SDP)的贡献从高到低排序移除物种。
本数据集包含各情景下每一轮灭绝步骤中,网络结构指标(嵌套性与模块化)与功能指标(物种丰富度与功能均匀度)的计算结果。
