Beaver Intrinsic Potential (BIP) Model for Scott Watershed, CA

There are several models in circulation for calculating the potential of an area to support beaver or beaver dams, but this project uses a beaver intrinsic potential model based on the methods developed by Dittbrenner et al. (2018). This model is not intended to replace existing models, but rather to explore some of the same questions while using only remotely sensed landscape characteristics. The factors included in this model are stream gradient, bankfull width, and valley width. The results of this analysis show a ranking of beaver habitat suitability based on the intrinsic potential of the land features to facilitate dam construction.目前已有多款用于评估区域支撑河狸或河狸坝能力的模型，但本项目采用基于Dittbrenner等人（2018）提出的方法构建的河狸内在潜力模型。该模型并非旨在替代现有模型，而是仅借助遥感获取的景观特征，对同类核心问题展开探索。本模型纳入的影响因子包括河流坡度、满岸宽度以及河谷宽度。本次分析的结果基于土地特征支撑坝体建设的内在潜力，对河狸栖息地适宜性进行了分级排序。
