Data from an Archaeological Trial Trench Evaluation at Fleet Marston Cottages and Putlowes, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, 2020 (HS2 Phase One)

This collection comprises images and photogrammetric data including human remains, site records, spreadsheets, and GIS data from an archaeological trial trench evaluation at Fleet Marston Cottages and Putlowes, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire. This work was undertaken by COPA from June to August 2020 as part of the High Speed 2 (HS2) Phase 1 rail project. The results identified three main phases of activity: Middle Iron Age, Middle Roman period (mid-2nd to mid-3rd century AD), and Late Roman period (mid-3rd to 4th century AD). Parts of a Late Roman cemetery were exposed, with inhumation graves recorded in Trenches 74, 78 and 83. Early to Middle Iron Age settlement activity was also concentrated in this area.
