Lucibufagin toxins evolved within fireflies after the origin of bioluminescence

Our results suggest that firefly LBGs probably evolved much later than the evolution of bioluminescence in fireflies, implying that firefy bioluminescence might not originally evolve as direct warning signals to LBGs.
