The design and optimisation of wastewater treatment plants requires information on the wastewater composition. This dataset contains __pollutant concentrations and physico-chemical parameters of various wastewater streams on cruise ships__ from 75 grab samples. The data was collected on 7 different ships during several sampling campaigns in the projects NAUTEK (“Sustainable treatment technologies for wastewater treatment and reuse on-board cruise ships”, Grant 03SX360A), CLEAN (“Cruise liners: Efficient on-board anaerobic digestion of organic wastes for energy recovery”, Grant 03SX437C) and OSCAR ("Online Modeling, Simulation and Remote Control System for Environmental Technologies on board (Cruise) Ships", Grant 03SX486C). All projects were funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi). __Additional information on the sampling campaigns, the sampled wastewater streams and analysis methods can be found in the accompanying document "Dataset description and background information".__ # Description of the data files The data is provided in .xlsx and .csv format (delimiter: ";"). Each row contains one measurement. Following information is stored in the columns: * __sample_ID__ unique ID of the grab sample (can be used e.g. to calculate parameter ratios of the same sample such as COD/TN) * __wastewater_type__ part stream from which the sample was taken (see "Dataset description and background information" for description of part streams) * __ship__ ship on which the sample was taken (see "Dataset description and background information" for more information on the ships) * __parameter__ pollutant concentration or other physico-chemical parameter (see "Dataset description and background information" for list of abbreviations and measurement methods) * __unit__ measurement unit * __n_measurements__ number of measurements for the same parameter and sample * __relational_operator_min__ ">" indicates measurement above detection limit, "<" indicates measurement below detection limit, otherwise "=" * __min__ smallest measured value (in case of multiple measurements) * __relational_operator_max__ ">" indicates measurement above detection limit, "<" indicates measurement below detection limit, otherwise "=" * __max__ largest measured value (in case of multiple measurements) * __relational_operator_mean__ ">" indicates at least one measurement above detection limit, "<" indicates at least one measurement below detection limit, "=" if all measurements were in range * __mean__ mean of measurement values * __operating_mode__ cruise day (at sea), port day (land excursion during cruise) or change-over day (embarking and disembarking of passengers) * __project__ NAUTEK or CLEAN (see above) # Acknowledgements We would like to express our gratitude to our project partners who made the sampling campaigns possible.
