The Aspen Picnic Site (89K/EeMa-2) is a multi-component Woodland site with three to four stratified occupations. It is situated along the north shore of Clear Lake in Riding Mountain National Park, Manitoba, Canada where it was identified in 1971 and tested in 1972. Artifacts and features were exposed during additional testing as part of an impact assessment along with mitigation based excavations in 2013 (Donalee Deck, personal communication February 4, 2014). Five lithic samples were selected for protein residue analysis and one ceramic sherd with a visible residue coating was chosen for optical and organic residue examination including pollen, phytolith, and starch analysis, and identification of organic compounds using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). Residue from the ceramic sherd also underwent AMS radiocarbon dating with results expected to fall between 300–1700 AD based on artifact typologies present at the site.
白杨野餐遗址(89K/EeMa-2)是一处多组分林地遗址,存在3至4层分期堆积的遗存。该遗址坐落于加拿大曼尼托巴省骑山国家公园内克利尔湖北岸,1971年被首次发现,1972年开展试掘工作。2013年,在配合遗址周边影响评估开展的补充试掘以及减灾性发掘过程中,揭露了各类遗物与遗迹(Donalee Deck,2014年2月4日私人通信)。本次研究选取5件石质样品开展蛋白质残留物分析,并挑选1件表面带有可见残留物涂层的陶片,进行光学与有机残留物检测,检测内容涵盖孢粉、植硅体与淀粉粒分析,以及利用傅里叶变换红外光谱(FTIR)鉴定有机化合物。该陶片表面的残留物还接受了加速器质谱(AMS)碳十四测年,结合遗址出土的遗物类型学特征,预计测年结果将落在公元300年至1700年之间。
