Bacterial population in the Gulf of Tonkin

These are the first data on the diversity of the bacterial population in the sediments of the Gulf of Tonkin, Vietnam. The 16S rDNA sequences obtained by the Illumina technology revealed a diversified population and a potential of bioremediation by the microorganisms. This work offers new information on the environmental context of the bay and highlights the putative impact that marine contaminants may have on the bacterial population.
