Temperature profiles from MBT casts from the SEBAGO from Ocean Weather Station C (OWS-C), D (OWS-D), E (OWS-E), and H (OWS-H) in the North Atlantic Ocean from 25 November 1967 to 24 December 1967 (NODC Accession 6700619)

Bathythermograph data were collected from the SEBAGO within a 1-mile radius of Ocean Weather Station C (5245N 03530W), D (4400N 04100W), E (3500N 04800W), H (3800N 07100W), and in transit. Data were collected by the United States Coast Guard from 25 November 1967 to 24 December 1967. The platform was equipped and staffed to observe weather and sea conditions. Data were processed by NODC to the NODC standard Universal Bathythermograph Output (UBT) format. Full format description is available from NODC at www.nodc.noaa.gov/General/NODC-Archive/bt.html.

The UBT file format is used for temperature-depth profile data obtained using the mechanical bathythermograph (MBT) instrument. The maximum depth of MBT observations is approximately 285 m. Therefore, MBT data are useful only in studying the thermal structure of the upper layers of the ocean. Cruise information, date, position, and time are reported for each observation. The data record comprises pairs of temperature-depth values. Temperature data in this file are recorded at uniform 5 m depth intervals.

UBT文件格式适用于通过机械温深仪（mechanical bathythermograph, MBT）获取的温度-深度剖面数据。机械温深仪的最大观测深度约为285米，因此其数据仅可用于研究海洋上层水体的热结构。每条观测记录均包含航次信息、日期、位置与时间，数据记录由若干组温度-深度值对构成，本文件中的温度数据以均匀5米的深度间隔进行记录。
