Quaternary stratigraphy

The quarernary deposits in Flanders, the youngest deposits, are lateral and vertical heterogeneous and vary greatly in thickness. Deposits were created mainly under continental conditions (river deposits, deposition). In fact, they are rarely more than 30 metres in thickness and sometimes less than 1 metres in thickness. Due to this great peculiarity and the high level of detail of the descriptions, a specific stratigraphic coding has been developed for Flanders.法兰德斯（Flanders）地区的第四纪（Quaternary）沉积物作为区域内最年轻的沉积地层，兼具横向与纵向非均质性，且厚度分布差异显著。该类沉积物主要形成于陆相沉积环境（包括河流沉积与堆积作用）。实际上，其厚度极少超过30米，部分区域甚至不足1米。鉴于这类独特的地质特性与现有描述的高细节程度，科研人员专为法兰德斯地区开发了专属的地层编码体系。
