重足寺石幢 天文16(1547)年造立

安山岩製。別物の空風輪を除く総高は134.2㎝。幢身には地蔵6体と阿弥陀1体の像容を半肉彫りとする。竿に刻む「奉造立六道能化 地蔵薩埵尊容/妙栄□□ 精儀伏願因茲功力/現世安穏後世善 処故也功徳主妙栄信女敬白/旹天文十六年丁未八 月時正日」という銘文により、妙栄信女が現世安穏後生善処を願い、天文16(1547)年8月時正日に造立した「六道能化地蔵薩埵尊容」であることがわかる。群馬県桐生市天神町所在。同市指定重要文化財。 Source: Objaverse 1.0 / SketchfabMade of andesite. Its total height measures 134.2 cm, excluding the separate empty wind ring (kū-fūrin). The main body of the stone pillar features half-relief carvings of six Jizō (Kṣitigarbha) statues and one Amida (Amitābha) Buddha statue. The inscription carved on the pillar shaft translates to: "Dedication for the creation of the Six Paths Transformation Jizō Bodhisattva Statue / Myōei [illegible] With sincere vows, relying on this accumulated merit / For peace in the present life and a favorable afterlife rebirth. The merit donor, devout female lay believer Myōei, respectfully declares / On the first day of the 8th lunar month, the 16th year of the Tenbun era (Dingwei year, 1547 CE)". This inscription confirms that this "Six Paths Transformation Jizō Bodhisattva Statue" was erected by devout female believer Myōei on that date, with prayers for present-day peace and a good future rebirth.
