Data for the paper Climate-Associated Oxythermal Squeezes Elevate Mercury in a Lacustrine Food Fish
This publication contains data supporting the article "Climate-associated oxythermal squeezes elevate mercury in a lacustrine food fish". The data include newly generated data not previously made publicly available in other repositories and consist largely of temperature and oxygen data for 16 Adirondack lakes. See the paper for details of how the data were collected. Briefly, lakes were outfitted with high-frequency temperature and dissolved oxygen loggers for two consecutive years from approximately mid June to mid October. These observations were supplemented with periodic vertical profiles that were used to fill in data gaps. We used a series of smoothing and interpolation procedures to generate a grid of temperature and oxygen data from the surface to the bottom of each lake at 0.1 m depth intervals and six hour time steps. In addition, the data include brook trout tissue mercury concentrations for fish sampled from these lakes in the autumn of both years. These data are primarily to support the manuscript and we do not recommend use of the data without conferring with the authors.
