Biochemcial as well as culture- independent evaluation of bark mulch-biofilters during thermophilic anaerobic digestion.

So far, data on performance of biofilters and microbial colonialization of biofilter materials are scarce. The aim of the present study was to evaluate microbial abundance and microbial community composition of bark mulch containing biofilters using both, cultivation- dependent and independent approaches as well as to monitor their performace on methane and odour removal.
