Pilchard orthomyxovirus (POMV) is the causative agent of salmon orthomyxoviral necrosis in farmed Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar). Here we present an updated reference genome of POMV, including full-length genome segments with previously unreported sequences in the untranslated regions and evidence of spliced mRNA transcripts putatively encoding novel viral proteins.
