Climate change is accelerating glacial melt in Gulf of Alaska watersheds and concomitant changes in runoff will affect coastal and estuarine habitat dynamics. This dataset consists of water quality measurements in Southeast and Southcentral Alaskan estuaries. Southeast Alaska sites were located in Gastineau Channel and Lynn Canal, near Juneau, and Southcentral Alaska sites were in Kachemak Bay, near Homer. Watersheds adjacent to estuary sites varied in their degree of glacierization (i.e., contemporary ice cover), ranging from 0% to 60% glacier cover. Estuary sites were sampled between April and October in 2019–2022. These data include sensor measurements of temperature, conductivity, salinity, dissolved oxygen, irradiance, and pressure (depth) recorded at 15-minute intervals by in situ sensor arrays. They also include point data taken on sampling days of temperature, salinity, conductivity, and turbidity. These data were collected as part of the Alaska EPSCoR Phase 5 “Fire and Ice” Program by the EPSCoR Coastal Margins team. --- This metadata record was created by Anne Beaudreau, Associate Professor, University of Alaska Fairbanks, in Oct–Nov 2020. Following Beaudreau's departure from UAF in December 2020, it has been further developed and maintained by Brenda Konar, Scott Gabara, and Brian Ulaski from the EPSCoR Coastal Margins team. Beaudreau may be contacted with questions regarding the metadata record or Juneau 2019–2020 data at annebeau@uw.edu. --- This folder contains all "processed" environmental sensor data from intertidal and fish sampling sites in both regions from 2019–2022. The Sensor Data folders have all the sensor data (temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen, PAR, and TDR-time depth recorders for sensors that were truly intertidal and would go dry). These data were collected using various data loggers from the first sampling month of the year (usually May) to the last (usually September). These data can be found in their "raw" state, "processed" state, and "final" state. Please use the final state for analysis.
