Genome sequencing of Apocynum venetum, an herb and fiber crop. Apocynum venetum

Apocynum venetum is a member of the genus Apocynum in the family Apocynaceae. A. venetum is an herb for the treatment of hypertension listed in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia, and the leaves of A. venetum were widely used to be made into a healthy tea. Moreover, the bark of A. venetum can be used as textile materials of high-quality. Here we report a draft genome assembly using the PacBio platform and gene annotation for A. nanus.
