African swine fever virus genome sequences from Portugal 1957-1999

African swine fever virus persisted in Portugal between 1960 and 1999 within a complex epidemiological picture that included traditional farming practices, soft ticks vectors and the use of ineffective vaccines. Here we attempt to understand the genetics that contributed to this persistence by sequencing viruses from within this time period.
