In various regions of Peru, collaborative studies were conducted in 2006 to assess local potato varieties, with the support of the National Institute of Agricultural Innovation (INIA), the Yanapai group, and Pedro Ruiz Gallo University, which provided the necessary materials for micronutrient analysis, including iron, zinc, and others. In Cusco, 19 varieties were evaluated in the Challabamba area and 41 varieties in the Anta region. Huancavelica assessed 18 varieties in Ccasapata. Puno examined 12 varieties, while Cajamarca studied 10. In Huanuco, 18 varieties were assessed, while Lambayeque conducted studies on 7 varieties, and Junin examined 17 local potato varieties.
