Christmas Island Water Resources – Bore Holes – Pre 1996

Water resources data for Christmas Island were assembled as part of ongoing groundwater investigations and monitoring undertaken on Christmas Island during the period from October 1996 to June 1999. The Pre-1996 bores and wells data shows point location of the monitoring bores that were installed prior to 1996. **Accuracy:** Points of original shapefile data were been recorded based on data collected from hand drawn maps and reports and local knowledge. Two sites WB 72 and WB73 were located by way of x and y coordinates supplied by GPS survey. Site WB 30 was located by local knowledge of the sites. Location of bores should fall within accuracy ± 20m. Layers were supplied as ESRI shapefiles in CIG85 projection. In September 2003, Geoscience Australia projected these shapefiles into the MGA (GDA94) projection using an XY (X=550015, Y=8780001) shift.
