Annual profit of SJ AB 2012-2019

In recent years, the profit of the Swedish state-owned passenger railway company SJ AB (short for Statens Järnvägar) fluctuated. With 220 million Swedish kronor, the lowest profit was generated in 2013, while the highest figure was reached three years later, at 650 million Swedish kronor. Afterwards the company result decreased to roughly 390 million Swedish kronor in 2018. In 2019, the amount nearly doubled. While the profit of SJ AB fluctuated during the last years, the revenue increased first to approximately 9.34 billion Swedish kronor as of 2016, before dropping to less than eight billion Swedish kronor in the next two years. Similarly to the grwoth of the annual profit, net sales increased again in 2019.Little confidence in SJ As the market leader in railway operations in Sweden, SJ, founded in the middle of the 19th century, connects not only Sweden, but also Scandinavia’s capitals Stockholm, Copenhagen, and Oslo. However, a survey conducted in 2019 found that there were only very few people who had trust in the company, at 22 percent of respondents.
