This data directory contains the critical files for executing the experiments described in the manuscript "Spectral Fidelity of Earth’s Terrestrial and Aquatic Ecosystems." The directory includes the following files:
plsr: CSV files and wavelengths thereof, taken from Chadwick et al., Methods in Ecology and Evolution 2020 (https://doi.org/10.1111/2041-210X.13463).
wavelengths_00xx.txt: wavelength files, with three ASCII columns signifying channel number, channel center in microns, and FWHM in microns. The file index "00xx" indicates the offset in nanometers from the original calibration "0000"
aerosol_dust_sulf_smok.txt: aerosol model, in the ISOFIT format (https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.4614338), used for configuring the ISOFIT forward model
surface.mat: surface model, in the ISOFIT format (https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.4614338), used for configuring the ISOFIT forward model
aerosol_template.json: MODTRAN aerosol template, in the ISOFIT format (https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.4614338), used for configuring the ISOFIT forward model
brodrick_reflectances.csv: reflectance spectra used for the analysis, taken from Chadwick et al., Methods in Ecology and Evolution 2020 (https://doi.org/10.1111/2041-210X.13463).
veg_reflectances_reampled.txt: The spectra from brodrick_reflectances.csv, resampled to the common wavelength grid.
caseII_water.mat: Hydrolight runs. This MATLAB-style file contains the following fields:
data - a six dimensional lookup table for the aquatic experiments. It holds water-leaving reflectance indexed by [solar zenith, windspeed, chlorophyll-a, cdom, minerals, wavelengths] in that order.
grids - the grid points for each of the first five quantities above
wl - the wavelength grid for the data table
lut_names - the names for each of the lookup table dimensions
scale - the numerical lengthscale of [widnspeed, chlorophyll-a, cdom, minerals], used in optimization
sigma - the prior standard deviation for [widnspeed, chlorophyll-a, cdom, minerals]
mean - the prior mean for [widnspeed, chlorophyll-a, cdom, minerals]
init - initial guess for [widnspeed, chlorophyll-a, cdom, minerals]
