The ARGs in mariculture sediment pose a potential risk to public health due to their can transfer to pathogens and thus reducing the susceptibility of pathogens to antibiotics in medical treatment. The function profile of microbial communities was significantly correlated to the antibiotic resistome in mariculture sediments. The carbohydrates, especially trehalose and animal glycogen, could enrich the microbes belong to the Bacteroidetes phylum in mariculture sediments, resulting in the increase of ARGs carried by them.
