976 Biotope Protection Order (BPA)

The purpose of the biotope protection order is to conserve the habitat of protected species. It is a regulatory protection tool at the departmental level, the implementation of which is relatively flexible. It is one of the protected areas under the current Protected Areas Strategy and is classified as IUCN Category IV1 as a management area. Most biotope protection orders are monitored either directly through a committee under the authority of the Prefect or indirectly through schemes such as Natura 2000 and through local ownership.
A biotope protection order is either prefectural (if it is made by the prefect on the land or river domain of a department, it is then referred to as a prefectural order for the protection of biotope) or ministerial (if it is taken by the minister responsible for the sea on the public maritime domain).
The department of Mayotte has two PDBs in force.

生境保护令（Biotope Protection Order）的核心宗旨为保护受保护物种的栖息生境。其作为省级层面的规范性保护工具，实施方式相对灵活。它亦是现行《保护区战略》（Protected Areas Strategy）下的保护区类型之一，被归类为世界自然保护联盟（IUCN）第四类管理区。多数生境保护令的监测工作，既可以通过省长（Prefect）下辖的专门委员会直接开展，也可以依托自然2000（Natura 2000）等保护计划以及地方权属模式间接推进。
生境保护令分为省级令与部级令两类：若由省长针对某一省的陆地或河域发布，则称为省级生境保护令；若由负责海洋事务的部长在公共海域范围内出台，则为部级生境保护令。
马约特省（Mayotte）目前共有2项生效的生境保护令（PDB）。
