THE INFLUENCE OF GLOBALIZATION ON URBAN NAMING PRACTICES

This article examines the influence of globalization on urban naming practices from a linguocultural perspective. It explores how global trends, particularly the spread of the English language and commercial naming strategies, are reshaping traditional urbanonyms. The study analyzes the reasons behind these changes, including economic motivations, global prestige, and cultural integration. Furthermore, it identifies the types of urban objects most affected by these transformations, such as shopping centers, residential complexes, business districts, and tourism facilities. The article argues that while globalization contributes to modernization and international recognition, it also poses a risk to local cultural identity and linguistic heritage.
