A Permutational Based Multivariate Analysis of Variance (Euclidean distances, 9999 permutations), was used to statistically test two-way, three-way and four-way interaction terms (column 3). Each interaction component (two-way and three-way) was tested for all possible combinations of the factor(s) that were kept constant (column 1–2).
