In the past 12 years, several case reports showed that Wohlfahrtiimonas chitiniclastica is capable to cause sepsis and bacteremia in humans. However, little is known about treatment options and it`s pathogenicity. Methods need to be identified, that are most suitable to obtain fast and reliable identification. Moreover, we need to shed light on the antimicrobial resistance profile in order to treat infections successfully. Over a period of six years, we collected a total of 14 W. chitiniclastica isolates in routine diagnostics, which are now used as base for a comprehensive characterization with respect to identification and antibiotic profiling.
