VPRS 7427 Nominal Register of Patients

This series contains the Nominal Register of Patients at the Araradale Mental Hospital (VA 2841) including J Ward, the ward for criminally insane patients. The Nominal Register was created to record the names of all patients on the books of the Asylum/Hospital. Both patients in residence and those out on trial leave are included.Details recorded in the registers include:- name of patient- date of admission- date of discharge (including how discharged) or death.- number in Order of Admission (included in registers held in P3 consignment)These nominal registers could be used as an index to the following series if the date of admission of the patient is unknown:VPRS 7401 Case Books of Female PatientsVPRS 7403 Case Books of Male PatientsVPRS 18140 Admission and Discharge Register of PatientsNote: There is some overlap of the dates of volumes within this series with 2 of the volumes commencing in 1867. It is unclear why there were 2 registers maintained for the period 1867 - 1906.
