Intestinal colonisation with extended-spectrum beta-lactamase-producing Enterobacterales and the impact of selected factors on intestinal colonisation duration

We conducted a prospective cohort study of patients with newly acquired extended-spectrum beta-lactamase-producing Enterobacterales (ESBLPE) intestinal colonisation. We evaluated the duration of ESBLPE colonisation and the impact of selected factors on this duration. The study was conducted from January 2013 to October 2016 in two large public hospitals in Auckland, New Zealand. Each hospital has a catchment population of greater than 500,000 people.
