The viral metagenomes of Chinese mitten crab Eriocheir sinensis

To explore the diversity of the viral community in Chinese mitten crabs and research the potential association between viruses and diseases, we used meta-transcriptomic sequencing to investigate the RNA viromes in pooled samples of diseased or asymptomatic crabs taken from three different cities. Specifically, in April 2021, 10 crabs affected by milky disease and 10 crabs without any symptoms were collected in Tangshan, Hebei Province. In August 2021, 10 HPNS-affected crabs and 10 asymptomatic crabs were collected in Dongying, Shandong Province. In October 2021, 10 HPNS-affected crabs and 10 asymptomatic crabs were collected in Suqian, Jiangsu Province. Six libraries were constructed totally. The libraries were pair-ended sequenced (150 bp) on an Illumina Novaseq 6000 platform (Illumina).
