Unsaturated alginate oligosaccharides alleviate insulin resistance and fatty liver in non-obese NAFLD mice

Unsaturated alginate oligosaccharides (UAOS) show promising potential in metabolic disease management. In this study, we treated non-obese NAFLD mice with UAOS and our findings demonstrated that UAOS effectively ameliorated insulin resistance and hepatic steatosis in GHR-deficient mice. Moreover, UAOS improved intestinal barrier integrity and increased the relative abundance of beneficial bacteria. These results establish UAOS as a promising prebiotic candidate for the treatment of non-obese NAFLD and represent a promising avenue for future therapeutic strategies.
