Role of PG1626 in Porphyromonas gingivalis ATCC33277

Wild type Porphyromonas gingivalis strain ATCC33277 (V3176) and PG1626 - deficient mutant (V3177) were grown in iron replete conditions was used to compare to Porphyromonas gingivalis strains grown in iron chelated conditions. Samples of wildtype P. gingivalis  ATCC33277 V3176 and V3177 PG1626 mutant were grown in an overnight culture of BHI media. The overnight cultures served to inoculate cultures of BHI media starting at an OD660 of approximately 0.05. Cultures were grown with and without dipyridyl to mid-log phase, centrifuged, and stored at -20 °C.
