The inventory forms the basis for the work of monument preservation. The map lists all over-municipal objects, i.e. cantonal (dark blue) or regional (light blue). Existing protective measures are indicated with red letters (Ö = restriction of ownership under public law, P = personal serviceability under private law in favour of the canton of Zurich). In addition, the map contains indications of existing protective measures (private personnel service in favour of the canton of Zurich) on non-communal properties (white dots with red P). The publication does not constitute an inventory opening within the meaning of § 209(2) PBG. Even if a building is not marked in this card, it can be a protective object. In the case of construction projects on the objects shown in the map or in the surrounding area, the cantonal monument preservation must be contacted. The decision on any protective measures lies with the Construction Directorate. The map shows only the monument protection objects of over-municipal importance, which lie in the competence of the canton. Municipal properties are responsible for the municipalities that keep their own inventories. All inventories relating to protected objects are publicly accessible to the competent authority. Note: The inventory of historical monuments of over-municipal importance is currently being revised. In case of doubt, please contact the cantonal monument preservation.
