Fish observations delivered by "Canarias por una Costa Viva" project

The project ‘Canarias, por una costa viva (CCV)’ was an integrated research and educational initiative that run between 2003 – 2004 with the goals of gathering robust scientific information of keystone coastal habitats and the promotion of public awareness about responsible uses of marine resources in the Canary Islands (Central East Atlantic Ocean). Sampling effort has been carried out biannually at 100 locations around the coastlines of the overall Canary Islands. Specifically, we have studied the conservation status of key fish species and their role in their ecosystems. The relationship between the human population, the natural environment and the pressures it supports has been observed in different anthropogenically stressed areas (sewage areas, shell fishing activity, sea-cage fish farms and ports) and preserved areas“‘加那利，守护活力海岸（Canarias, por una costa viva, CCV）’项目是一项于2003至2004年间实施的综合性研究与教育计划，其核心目标为收集加那利群岛（中东北大西洋海域）关键海岸生境（keystone coastal habitats）的可靠科学数据，并提升公众对加那利群岛海洋资源合理利用的认知。研究团队在整个加那利群岛沿岸的100个采样点位开展了每半年一次的采样工作。具体而言，本研究重点考察了关键鱼类物种的保护现状及其在生态系统中的功能。针对人类活动、自然环境及其承载压力三者之间的关联，研究人员已在不同受人为活动胁迫的区域（包括排污区、贝类捕捞作业区、海水网箱养殖场及港口）与保护区域中完成了相关观测分析。”
