Availability of open-source data-recovery tools across Linux distributions (August 2026)
收藏资源简介:
When a disk is failing, the useful question is not which tool is best but which tool can I install right now on the system in front of me. That answer is distribution-dependent and does not appear to be published in one place. This dataset measures, for 12 data-recovery tools across 3 Linux distributions, whether the tool is packaged and in which version, queried from each project's own public API on 2026-08-15. Result: Ubuntu 24.04 noble 12/12; Fedora rawhide 9/12 (3 queries did not complete); Arch Linux official repositories 8/12. Eight tools are present in all three. Stated limits: package names differ between distributions - on Ubuntu ddrescue ships as gddrescue, and a first run wrongly reported it absent; the CSV therefore carries the name actually queried. Arch is measured on official repositories only (AUR out of scope). Three Fedora queries returned HTTP 400 and are recorded as not measured, which is not the same as not packaged. The scanning script is included so the measurement can be reproduced or extended. Measured and published by Save My Disk.
