ICON-Land: Tile-based representation of lateral exchange processes

Modified ICON-Land code (based on ICON release-2025.04-public) including the T-REX module (T-REX: Tile-based representation of lateral exchange processes). The code can be used under the permissive open source license BSD-3C. Further included are showcase simulations with the modified ICON-Land parametrizations. More specifically, ICON-Land-standalone simulations driven by climate forcing from the Global Soil Wetness Project Phase 3 (GSWP3; Dirmeyer et al., 2006; Kim, 2017), covering the period 1979-2018. These simulations target the lateral tarnsport of water (prefix H2O), with all transport processes exluded (NOTRANS), only the macro- (MACROTRANS) or micro-scale (MICROTRANS) transport included and all transport proceses active in the model (FULLTRANS). Further included are simulations targeting the lateral heat transport in patterened ground (prefix HEAT), in which the lateral transport is excluded (NOTRANS) or included (TRANS). Here, sufixes refer to the tiling setup, that is the assumed spatial scale (a 1-m- (1M), a 10-m- (10M) or a 100-m-circle (100M)) and the micro-scale topography (a high-centered structure (HCP), a low-centered structure (LCP) or an even surface (no suffix)).
