资源简介:
Studies on age and growth have focused on estimating average growth trajectories that ignore intrinsic biological variability about individual growth. Growth variability is identified as a source of bias for parameter estimation, if this is not considered, can lead to under or overestimations of individual growth. Commonly, growth analysis only include data from one developmental stage (i.e., adult population), assuming constant growth throughout the life cycle. Dataset provides information about geoduck Panopea globosa from Bahía Magdalena, on the west coast of the Baja California Peninsula, Mexico. Datasets includes two different stages of development: 1) Length-at-age data of early stages were obtained under rearing experimental conditions. 2) The adult individuals were obtained from commercial catches; SL (mm) was measured as the straight-line distance between the anterior and posterior margin of the shell. Age data were collected in the laboratory by processing the shells to count growth rings. Dataset is available in Excel format (csv) and include two spreadsheets. The first contains length (μm) and age (days) data of 797 individuals in the early stages; second comprises length (mm) and age (years) data of 357 adult individuals. Each spreadsheet is structured in two columns, which correspond to each biological variable. More detailed information about the data can be obtained from Luquin-Covarrubias et al. (2016).
