‘Pyrobaculum yellowstonensis str. WP30' is an elemental sulfur and arsenate respiring chemoorganoheterotroph isolated from the ~75-80 °C, sulfidic source pool of Joseph’s Coat Hot Spring in Yellowstone National Park (YNP), USA. A combined microbiological and comparative genomic approach was used to assess the representation, distribution, and the potential functional role(s) this isolate may play in situ. 'P. yellowstonensis str. WP30' is the first member of the order Thermoprotales isolated from YNP and represents the first complete genome sequenced at Montana State University.
