The Handmaid's Tale in Cambridge

Cambridge played a huge role in this critically acclaimed and Emmy Award winning program, which is based on Canadian author Margaret Atwood’s award winning novel of the same name. Our community was used to create a backdrop for the Republic of Gilead, and the project filmed in various locations throughout the City (as outlined below). The Handmaid’s Tale is the story of a dystopian future, where women are considered second class citizens and thrust into a life of servitude. Starring: Alexis Bledel, Joseph Fiennes, Max Minghella, Elisabeth Moss, Yvonne Strahovski and Samira Wiley.
